KATAKLYSM Singer Says They Missed London Terrorist Attack By Two Days
July 7, 2005KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono has issued the following update on the band's current and future activities:
"We have just returned from a very successfull tour in Europe. The German shows were all packed and the open-air festival in Slovenia (Metal Camp) was really cool and so was With Full Force in Leipzig (Germany). We played in the afternoon on the main stage and the crowd was killer and was as far as you could see! The U.K. shows were killer as well, London being amazing. It was also very weird and kind of scary opening the TV this morning and seeing this terrorist attack happening in London exactly where we were just a couple of days ago. Unbelievable. We left the airport in London. The equipment left in cars and we decided to take the train to the club where we were to play. Then we got off at King's Cross station, where the major casualties happened today. 21 dead, I hear, and that's where our hotel was, just in front of that train station. Two days later this happened. So fucking weird, man.
"Anyways, more inspiration for the new album. The crowd's reaction to the new song was absolutely great. So next step is the beginning of the recording process, starting this Saturday! More news coming soon. We got some special guests on the new album and we will [give] you some in-studio updates! Just got the release date from Nuclear Blast this morning, which will be February 20th."
As previously reported, the drum tracks for KATAKLYSM's upcoming album, "In the Arms of Devastation", will be recorded at Studio Victor, with the highly anticipated return of oginal drummer Max Duhamel. The rest of the album wil be recorded at guitarist J-F Dagenais's JFD studios over the remainder of the summer.
"In the Arms of Devastation"'s release will mark the band's 15th anniversary and will be celebrated with the band's first-ever DVD, "The Test of Time". The disc, which is scheduled for release later in 2006, will feature documentary-style footage spanning the band's career from 1991 to 2005, including the "making of" the new album, live footage, clips, interviews and tons of other goodies.
